A special 3-hour event held at Klitsgras designed for people interested in developing their Djembe skills.
In simple terms, it’s a technique in which you learn to relax consciously. We all know sleep is important for balanced functioning, with most people putting in their 6 to 8 hours of rest each night. The question is, how many of us actually feel rested? How often do you find yourself lying in bed mulling over your thoughts from the day? How many of us spend time just before bed looking into our screens, observing all the social media tit bits from the day?
Drumming in a group isn’t just about beating rhythmic patterns out around a fire - it’s so much more than that. It speaks to a deeper rhythmic source found in our DNA; the first sound that imprinted its hypnotic pulse on all of us was the sound of our mother’s heart. Beating a drum in time with others speaks to this cellular connection, allowing us a chance to feel that we are apart of something greater then ourselves once again.
Come and play, and if you have any instruments that you would like to bring into the circle, bring them along! If you've never drummed before, no worries - We've got plenty of drums to rent. This is a supported drum circle with some of the best hand drummers in South Africa. We will start with a 60min drum lesson for those wishing to improve their drumming skills.
The focus of Yoga Nidra is in large part on educating people on the “threefold tensions” – those of the muscular system, the emotional system and the mental system. The practices learnt become useful tools that will empower individuals to shift towards a homeostatic state. These sessions are aimed at developing and improving the conscious connection to the body temple, supporting this connection with live, soothing meditative sounds.
